In Zambia, health is a high priority in all respects with substantive support at the highest Governmental level. There is an increase in need/demand for qualified high cost health services, including non-communicable diseases (NCDs), in particular cancer and cardiovascular diseases, and trauma.[1]
Market Scale and Value
The annual value of the pharmaceuticals market in Zambia is roughly estimated to be ca 100 million USD in 2012, whereof approximately 30% are branded products. The infectious disease diagnostics market is roughly estimated to be 7 million USD[2].
The safe city of Lusaka is a natural center for expansion into the surrounding countries, including the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the total of which covers an emerging market with an excess of 170,000,000 people.
