Investment Environment
Overall ease of doing business:
According to the World Bank, the Ease of Doing Business rank (out of 189 economies) of Tanzania in 2016 is 139 while that of 2015 is 140[1].
Market drivers:
Growing private sector investment in the last five years
Market restraints:
1) Limitations in healthcare infrastructure;
2) Poor healthcare worker coverage;
3) Procurement bottlenecks;
4) Challenges of managing a health system that is in the process of decentralization;
5) Overall health system implementation is often weak, arising in part from poor communication between the different levels of the system;
6) Lack of leadership and management skills and the imbalances between well-resourced vertical programs (e.g., HIV/AIDS) and the rest of the health system[2].
